• Understand why the development of self-discipline is so valuable.

• Understand what self-discipline actually is and what it isn’t.

• Use goals as tools to build discipline—not just set intentions.

• Know how to build and Install productive habits that automate the work.

• Know how to recover quickly when you fall off track.

Your workload will be significant and time is a finite resource. 

There will only be so much time that you can dedicate towards school work. So it becomes critical that you are able to make large amounts of progress with whatever time you have.

Productivity is not about doing more. It’s about making consistent progress on what matters most at any given time.

1. Time is Limited - Progress is Crucial

If you want to graduate, you simply must learn to become highly productive with whatever amount of time you have. You determine the value of your time with how productive you are.

2. Priority Means ONE

If everything is important, nothing is. Real progress comes from committing to a single highest-leverage task and saying NO to everything else.

3. Persistent Action is The Key

you MUST develop a militant ability to work when you know you should be working. Momentum is created by action— not by deliberating.

4. Procrastination is a Real Threat

Procrastination can be a cancer to your learning and performance. If you expect to graduate, procrastination cannot be a part of your life. The good news is that it is not inherent. It can be defeated.

5. Unfocus Your Mind to Weaponize Diffuse Mode

In order to learn the most effectively you must incorporate small spaces of time where you are not focused on learning. This resets your mind and breeds new insight.

Things are not hard because of complexity, things are hard because of consistency.

Anyone can survive a class or two by sacrificing sleep, health, and sanity. But what about 40 courses spread out over 4-7 years?

Graduation requires high performance sustained over the long haul, not days and weeks.
Sustainability is what prevents burnout, preserves momentum, and enables consistent performance over the long haul.

1. Sustainability is How Big Goals are Accomplished.

Breaking the work down into small manageable chunks is the best way to your diploma.

2. Sustainability Means Maintaining Output Without Burning Out

Unsustainable workloads are very risky.

Anybody can grind out a class or two by forgetting about sleep, mental health, physical health, and just surviving on energy drinks ... This is a recipe for burnout.

3. You Will Need to Increase Your Academic Load and SUSTAIN it.

If you came up in the American public school system, then you will most likely need to increase your ability to focus for long periods of time and learn difficult material. The trick is staying challenged without pushing too hard.

4. Stress is Not Necessarily the Enemy

The right kind of stress causes growth. Too much causes collapse.

Stress is discomfort. And your ability to reframe, manage, and decrease discomfort will make or break how sustainable your personal situation is.

You should be seeking out and embracing good stress and high effort because they are what make you grow stronger, more capable, and more resilient. 

5. Time and Energy are Finite Resources

Every commitment pulls from the same energy pool. The majority of your time should be spent in alignment with your goals ... ie: on your education and your health. Saying “No” to other asks on your time will need to become your default.

6. Time Spent on Health is Time Well Spent

Exercise, sleep, diet, and stress reduction are how you maintain your ability to perfom. they should not be put on the back burner.

If you expect to graduate, you must become an effective learner ... period.

You can work hard, study for hours, and still underperform if your learning process is incomplete.

Consistent exam performance requires a robust and self-improving learning process. One that guarantees proper coverage, solid retention, and rock solid recall.

1. Pursue Meaning Through Significant Effort

Committing to reading and fully understanding your textbooks is one of the most valuable ways you can spend your time.

Developing comprehension in a given topic really comes down to 2 things. Meaning .. and effort. More specifically. The persistent pursuit of meaning through the expense of significant effort.

2. Recognition is NOT Recall

Being able to follow a solution or recognize an answer is not the same as producing it independently from scratch.

Exams test RECALL ... not recognition.

3. Application Validates Comprehension

If you cannot apply knowledge to solve problems, comprehension is incomplete.

4. Long Term Retention Requires Effort and Repetition

Knowledge must be revisited across spaced intervals to become durable and usable.

The act of pulling information from memory is what will earn you your degree.
